Holiday ruined! If zero stars was an option I’d choose it. Ordered a severn person van for our holiday to the alps and back down along the coast. We were all very excited. Less than 24 hours before our holiday, Sixt contacted us via email stating that the car was unavailable for our rental period. We only realised this on the journey to the depo. They made no effort to contact us and this falls far below the expected standard of a company that aspires to distinguish itself from the crowd. Lacklustre etiquette. Consequently one might think that Sixt was to go above and beyond to provide us with an alternative option, they were useless and made no attempt to resolve our situation. Thankfully our dear friend Baz was able to work his magic and rely on close family members to rescue us. There a few times I have been compelled to leave a google review. In fact only once, where I had a spectacular burger in Lisbon from a small independent restaurant and felt inclined to do what I could to support the business. Unfortunately I find myself on the other end spectrum, and cannot express through the medium of the literature the depths of our disappointment with Sixt. Great staff, great price, great location, great car. I couldn't have asked for anything more from a car rental company. If I am ever in Marseille again I won't hesitate to rent a car from Sixt. I would/will recommend them to anyone visiting Marseille.

Our experience of renting from Sixt Marseille City was less than satisfactory: - Negligent service at collection and return putting us in danger with a car that was unfit for purpose - Frustrating and dreadful customer service when raising queries and legitimate complaints. When we collected the car there were a number of documented scratches, but we were most concerned about a low pressure warning for the rear tyre. We pointed this out to the staff who assured us that it was all ok. As such it was not noted on the collection documents. After just over 1,000 km we returned the car with the warning still showing the pressure as it had been when we collected the car. At this point the staff were concerned that the tyre was soft and attempted to include it in the damage report for the rental (we had scratched the rear bumper of the car during the week we had it). In discussion with the staff at the return point and in the local office they agreed that we had brought it up on collection and that it wouldn’t be a problem. However, when we received the damage report there were charges for a new tyre included as well as for a mark on the front alloy wheel that hadn’t been sustained during the rental but also hadn’t been noted on collection. Querying these charges sent us into a protracted conversation with the customer services and damages team made more agonising thanks to 3-week gaps in between replies, emails that they claimed not to have received, and using the Facebook Messanger service for both the French and UK territories to try and find out what was going on. The response was to reduce the amount on the damage invoice as a gesture of goodwill, with an email that specifically noted that Sixt were removing the charges for the tyre and alloy wheel. Given this tacit agreement that the tyre had been low in pressure when we collected the car we followed up with a complaint about Sixt putting us in danger by supplying us with a car that they knew to be unfit for purpose and the negligence shown by the staff in this case. This complaint has been continuously ignored and the latest response from Sixt appears to attempt to pull back from the original email where the goodwill payment was directly linked specifically to the tyre and wheel charges. Frustrated with the service we have received at all levels we will be paying the charge (having had to ask Sixt repeatedly to reissue the digital invoice for us to do so). We have used Sixt happily many times in the past but will not be doing so again and would urge you not to either.
